Simple Explanation
Animal and plant cells share the same basic eukaryotic structures β a nucleus, cytoplasm, cell membrane, mitochondria, and ribosomes β but plant cells add a cell wall, chloroplasts, and a large permanent vacuole, while animal cells are usually more irregular in shape.

A cell viewed under a microscope has an irregular (non-rectangular) outline and no visible cell wall or chloroplasts. Is it more likely an animal or plant cell?
Why Does This Work?
Because the cell wall, chloroplasts, and large permanent vacuole are structures unique to plant cells, their absence β combined with a more irregular outline β is strong evidence the cell is from an animal, not a plant.
